We were doing the monthly WEBS count, with another one of the team below Harty church counting the wader roost there.
In my first reply I said that birdwatchers are seen at Shellness - but they rarely venture along the seawall to the rest of the reserve. Perhaps one day, when ECT eventually put up the new hides, people will go that bit further. Mind you, my count on the main part of the reserve yesterday afternoon was really poor, so I guess we also need some birds to attract them as well. The continuing lack of hides and birds could also be something to do with it but if you don't look, you won't find.
The bulls are away from public access and so no threat and you'd be lucky to actually spot where they are.Derek Faulknerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05140363868104172311noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6367416329197066280.post-69125396466316577572012-10-11T14:29:50.075+01:002012-10-11T14:29:50.075+01:00Derek, I don,t think that Swale has become unpopul...Derek, I don,t think that Swale has become unpopular , maybe some of the reason is the lack of hides on the reserve these days and as you have also mentioned the lack of birds. As you intimated most birders are not the hardy souls that they used to be . Also the prescence of the Aberdeen Angus would certainly scare me rigid !!Mike Hhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04886648998858394079noreply@blogger.com
